Dear BFA Families,

I am writing to inform you about a social media message that was brought to our attention that contained concerning language.  This message occurred earlier today and had been seen by a student at Bellows Free Academy (BFA). The safety and well-being of our students and staff are always our top priority. We are sharing the below message to reduce anxiety and provide as much transparency as possible.

We took immediate action by notifying law enforcement and conducting a joint investigation and response. After this detailed investigation, it has been determined that the threat is not credible.

The Bellows Free Academy Safety Team, the Saint Albans Police Department, and multiple sources have concluded that the threat was unfounded. However, out of an abundance of caution, we had an increased police presence on and around the BFA campus throughout the day, and we closely monitored all aspects of school safety and operations. All Maple Run safety protocols were followed.

We encourage our students and families to always report any safety concerns. Our staff is here to support you, and we take all threats seriously. Please remember: if you see something, say something.

If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to contact the school at 802-527-6555 or reach me directly at 802-527-6589.

Thank you for your attention to this matter and for helping us maintain a safe and secure school environment.

Sincerely,

Polly Rico, Principal
