Learning through play is such an important skill for children, and mealtimes are some of the best opportunities to work with your children to practice manners, patience, and even great conversation skills.
For example, preschoolers practiced tea party "skills" before a great family event in one of our PreK-X rooms, and each family went home with a child's tea set, courtesy of our Family Engagement Coordinator, Deb Grennon. Deb said, "They had so much fun practicing their new skills."
The families in one of our preK rooms also went home with a copy of There's a TRex at MyTea Party book to read at home. Each child got the set and the book regardless of family attendance. The classroom was even left with a few extra tea sets play with throughout the year.
Be on the lookout for other great family events to share with your child!
